You will bring an energetic & innovative approach to getting the most value from advanced 3D seismic & integrating between in-house processing and play & prospect maturation.What’s the role?As a geophysically-oriented geoscientist you will integrate wells, geology and seismic, helping the team to assess subsurface opportunity, risk & uncertainty. Your responsibilities will include:Seismic pre/post-stack QC for Interpretation· Assess seismic signal vs. noise from gathers and work with seismic processors.· Recognize artifacts, remove random noise & balance amplitude, frequency & phase.· Interpret pre-stack gather data & derivatives to understand interpretation uncertainty.· Understand complexity of transmission effects on phase, amplitudes & impact on QI.Seismic-to-well tie & time-depth conversion· Understanding of types of conversion & methodologies, & their pros & cons.· Compile & assess available velocity data from well logs and seismic.· Tie wells to seismic/ seismic substacks including data QC and assessment of Vint.· Extract wavelet shape/amplitude/phase for substacks, assess lateral & vertical variation.· Assess match of geological markers to interpreted events & iterate as necessary.· Apply appropriate methods to compare well and seismic velocities.Seismic Interpretation· Development of a seismic interpretation strategy.· Generation of credible fault & horizon framework interpretations (regional to field scale).· Knowledge of data conditioning, auto-tracking & attributes to optimize interpretation.· Integration of velocities, non-seismic data, and geology into the workflow.Quantitative Evaluation & Seismic Forward Modelling· Understanding of reservoir/seal & fluid AvO response and classes including AvO floor.· Modelling for tuning & interference effects.· Horizon consistent attributes to identify & map seismic facies.· Calculate & interpret synthetic seismic based on logs or for rock property models.· Perform reflectivity pattern analysis; identify & model lithology & fluid. (e.g., Gassman).· Generate forward modelled seismic from logs & initial static reservoir model.Seismic Inversion· Conduct seismic inversion feasibility studies and advise on preferred methodologies.· Perform seismic inversion projects linked to specific business outcomes.RequirementsWhat we need from you· Advanced university degree in Geoscience and 3-5 years’ experience in Exploration / development Geosciences or related subsurface evaluation work.· Skilled in the core Exploration competences listed below (Technical Skills)· Practical experience delivering geophysical evaluations (seismic interpretation, quantitative assessment & seismic inversion) on Shell or industry software.· Commitment to, and strong focus on, HSSE and knowledge of how the Exploration Geophysicist role impacts the safe delivery of wells and developments.· A good team player with well-developed interpersonal skills who enjoys working in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.· Ability to communicate subsurface issues to team members and stakeholders.· Well-developed presentation skills to clearly articulate complex subsurface evaluations.· Demonstrated drive, enthusiasm, and can-do attitude, with an open mindset and a desire to develop skills as well as learning from successes and failures.· Ability to accept personal responsibility, think independently & challenge dogmas.· Courage to challenge ideas that do not meet hard scrutiny.
